Why We Love Street Food Cooking Classes

There's something almost magical about street food. No fuss, no formality, just incredible flavour, handed to you in paper or a bowl, eaten standing up, usually in the company of strangers who are just as happy as you are. It's food at its most honest.

Street food tells you everything about a place. The sticky dumplings frying in a wok over an open flame in Tokyo. The rolling coconut-lime fragrance drifting from a Bangkok cart. The colour and clatter of a South Indian market at lunchtime. These dishes aren't afterthoughts; they're often the heart of a food culture, perfected over generations by cooks who know exactly what they're doing.

And here's the thing: a lot of it is surprisingly achievable at home. The techniques behind your favourite street food are often simpler than you'd expect. They just need a little guidance.

"Street food tells you everything about a place: these dishes are the heart of a food culture, perfected over generations."

That's exactly what we had in mind when we put together our street food cooking series. Each class is 3 hours long. Two hours of hands-on experience, spent cooking alongside our chefs, then sitting down to actually enjoy what you've made. No rush, no waste. Just good food and, usually, a few new tricks you'll be showing off at home within the week.

Japanese Street Food

Japan does simple things brilliantly. In this class, you'll learn the techniques behind a great poke bowl, a proper bowl of ramen, and those golden, crispy-edged pot sticker dumplings that everyone always finishes first. Healthy, unfussy, and genuinely delicious.

Biryani & South Indian Street Food

South Indian street food has spice, warmth, and a little drama. We'll take you through fragrant, layered biryani and a spread of the crispy street snacks that make this cuisine so irresistible. The secrets are in the spice blending, and once you know them, you'll use them constantly.

Thai Street Food

Bold, bright, and completely addictive. Thai cooking is built around four taste sensations: salty, sour, sweet, and hot, and learning to balance them is a genuine revelation. You'll leave with three showstopping dishes and a completely different way of thinking about flavour.

Vietnamese Street Food

Fresh, vibrant, and deeply satisfying. Think papaya and mango salad with crispy onions, a gorgeous noodle soup, and pork nem spring rolls that are somehow even better when you've made them yourself. Vietnamese food is all about balance and freshness, and it's much more approachable than most people realise.
