We are excited to announce that Howth Castle Cookery School is going on tour to Spain with Sunway Holidays, and you can join us.
In November 2026, we’ll head with Sunway to the Basque Country, one of Spain’s most celebrated regions for food and wine, to lead a group of Irish guests on a Food & Wine Culinary Tour.
This tour is set to be a food and wine lover’s dream holiday. Along with local tour guides, our Chef will accompany you to local gastronomic and cultural experiences, including Pixtos bars in San Sebastian, food markets in Bilbao and vineyard visits in La Rioja.
Flying from Dublin to Bilbao, we'll be based in the historic city of Pamplona for four nights. A perfect launchpad for our full-day excursions.
Day two takes us to La Rioja, Spain's most celebrated wine region, for vineyard visits and tastings in the charming towns of Haro and Logroño.
Day three brings us to San Sebastián, where a guided tour of the elegant coastal city is followed by a hands-on Basque cooking class. Think tortilla de bacalao, merluza a la vasca, and the famous tarta de queso.
On day four, we explore Bilbao's old town and the spectacular Ribera Market, one of Europe's largest covered food markets, with a cooking demonstration over lunch.
Throughout the trip, a professional chef tutor from Howth Castle Cookery School will be by your side, sharing techniques, insights, and a genuine passion for regional food.
Evenings are at leisure to soak up Pamplona's vibrant pintxos bar scene, with a welcome dinner on arrival and a farewell dinner to close out the adventure.
