Just a short flight away, Edinburgh is perfect for a short weekend away. Rain or shine, it's always a stunning city, but what we love even more is the number of great places to eat.
If you love Italian cuisine and small, quiet, warm places, this is your place. Leave Edinburgh Castle behind you and head towards Lanna Bakery (if you know, you know! If you don't, check it out). Up on the second floor of a white building is your next favourite Italian restaurant, and yes, it's as good as Grano in Smithfield.
We started with zeppole generously covered in pecorino, and I promise you'll want a second round. Hold back, though, because the bigoli cacio e pepe and the tagliatelle with crab are worth saving room for.
And whatever you do, don't skip dessert: the black cherry amaretti were so good we're still thinking about them.
Want to make amaretti at home? Join us at our Italian class in January, where amaretti are on the menu. Sign up for our newsletter, and we'll let you know when bookings go live - newsletter signup
Our tip: it's small, so book ahead.
