General Information About Howth Castle Cookery School
Howth Castle Cookery School offers a broad range of cookery classes, including, but not limited to, country-specific cuisine such as Japanese, Spanish and Indian food. In our class calendar, you will also find classes and workshops for Baking, BBQs, Catch and Cook, Sunday Brunch and more. No prior experience is needed for our cookery classes.
Most classes consist of 2 hours of hands-on time in the kitchen followed by time to enjoy your creations in our Butlers Room or Garden Room. Some 'workshops' are a bit longer so please check when booking your experience. Most classes are 3 hours unless otherwise stated. Each class is a little different, please check when booking.
All of our classes are hands-on.
The cookery school is located inside Howth Castle. For access to the cookery school by taking the first right turn at the first castle turret. The school car park and entrance is at the end of this road on your left.
There is a limited amout of parking next to the cookery school entrance. More parking is available at the top of the castle drive, a short walk from the school.

We recommend booking as far in advance as possible, at least 4 weeks, as most classes fill up quickly.
Yes, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free cookery classes are regularly included in our class calendar.
Yes, we offer a fun range of Teen & Tween cookery classes for children, teens and families.

Howth Cookery School's kitchen can accommodate up to 26 people for each class. Larger groups can also be accommodated by splitting the group. For example, while one group attends the cookery school, the others availed of our historic castle tour, 18-hole pitch and putt or other team bonding activities. Our basic terms and conditions state - We operate a strict booking and cancellation policy. Once a booking is purchased, it is non-refundable. If at least a 30 days notice is given, the class fee may be deferred to another course without penalty. If notice is given of between 15 – 29 days before the class, deferrals will be subject to a €25 administration fee per participant. When 14 days notice or less is given for a deferral request, payments will not be transferred to another course, but you are welcome to send another person in your place. Class deferrals must be made via email or over the telephone with a member of the Howth Castle Cookery School staff team. To see our full policy, click here
We will supply all ingredients and equipment, so you don't need to bring anything.
Yes, at the end of the class, you will be able to enjoy your culinary creation in our dining room or conservatory. Some classes include a small meal prepared by our chefs so you can take home your creations. Please see class descriptions for details.
Yes, at the end of the class, you will be offered a glass of wine or an alcohol-free refreshment to enjoy with your food.
